As you can see I am currently working on a music magazine in my AS media course and I would appreciate it if you would spend some time in helping me out.
I am stuck on creating a tagline for my magazine titled 'Anthem'; I have created a few that I think would suit the magazine.
Please place your vote and help me out. Thank You

Progression of Contents Page
Starting with the blank page:
International Paper (A4):
I am now going to transfer the masthead from the front cover over to this page and make it smaller:
I have made it smaller. The magazine contents pages that I have looked at have the title of the magazine somewhere in view. Mojo have their title right at the top of the contents page it looks very effective that way. They also have a background colour, I feel that the contents page does need a background colour otherwise it just looks plain.
Mojo's Content page:

My Masthead in the style of Mojo's:
This style could work if I had a background colour, at the moment there is a lot of space around the masthead.
Kerrang and Q have their masthead in a banner for their contents pages. But I don't feel as though that would look good because of the style of font that I have.
Kerrang contents page:
My contents page with a banner over the masthead:
You can't see the masthead with this banner underneath the writing.
But I tried it with a white block underneath 'ANTHEM' but over the red block and this is what it looks like.

With the white banner:
Adding the Title and the date and issue. ('Contents', Issue 28, December 2013)
Creating the Box for my features and regulars. I found creating the box was easy but then I struggled on how to create an outline for the box. I then found out that you have to click on edit then stroke, this allows you to create an outline for the shape/layer you have created.
Adding a background colour:
I played around with the background colour a bit and I thought that a light grey would suit the colour scheme a bit more rather than using red, black and white all the time. I shall see when I get everything up on the contents page if it does suit it or not.
To enable me to fit the QR code at the bottom I had to move everything up on the left hand side.

Added features:
I have added the features to my contents page along with little summaries of what that article is about. My double page spread will be based on the interview with my made up character, Melony Spikes. The boxes just to the side of the features and regulars are boxes for images.
I have now added the Regulars along with a date and issue number under the heading 'Contents'. I have used Kerrang as an inspiration for my regulars, some of them include the quiz and the posters section. I have also added a number at the bottom of the main image on my contents page, this helps the audience relate the picture to the article number and then go to that page.
I have now added the first picture to the contents page:
Adding the editor and subscription box; the editors box allows the editor to add a few words about the issue. The subscription box allows the reader to subscribe to future issues, adding an offer that is cheaper in the long run will enhance reader loyalty.
After adding the subscription box I have decided not to have an editors box. It didn't feel right on the page and instead I have gone for a Subscription box and two images to go underneath.
For the two image boxes I used the rectangle tool to draw the shape. I then placed them where I wanted and then added page numbers to caption them; this was done by again using the rectangle tool but with the black fill, then just adding a number over the top.
The box with page 30 tagged is a screenshot of a DPS and 24 will be an image of one of the brand new artists/bands that will be touring in 2014.
Adding the QR Code. QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response Code) is the trademark for a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional barcode) first designed for the automotive industry in Japan. A barcode is a machine-readable optical label that contains information about the item to which it is attached. A QR code uses four standardized encoding modes (numeric, alphanumeric, byte / binary, and kanji) to efficiently store data; extensions may also be used. (WIKIPEDIA).
This QR code will allow a free digital copy of the issue using iOS and Android operating systems. It will also entitle the reader to 20% off the next issue, making the issue £2 instead of £2.20. This again enhances reader loyalty.
As well as the QR code being added I have moved the two image boxes up and added a follow address for Anthem twitter account and a website address. @anthem_mag and www.anthemmag.com.

Ideas for Features and Regulars
Ideas for features and regulars based on other magazines
Features
- The main sell-line on my front cover is an interview with my made up character Melony Spikes, so this will be one of my features.
- Interview with Nickelback, looking back at 19 years in the business and their 20 year anniversary in 2015 (also there will be an interview with lead vocalist Chad Kroeger)
- 50 new artists and bands touring in 2014 (list of gigs)
- Interview with Brian May on 'Dark Sided Freddie'
- Interview with Green Day and how the audience can win tickets to see them live at the O2.

Contents page Mock Up
Mock up of my contents page - Publisher
- The page numbers will be in order and the whole magazine will be split into sections. The contents page will help the reader determine which story is in which section and on what page.
- Images with page numbers as the captions will also help the reader. They will be drawn to the images first and if they are interested go straight to the page.
- An editors box, this allows the editor to say a few words about the issue and thanking the reader for buying the issue.
- Subscription box to allow the reader to subscribe to every issue of the magazine. A special offer would tempt reader loyalty.
- One thing I didn't include on this draft was a qr code. This would enable the reader to use their smartphone or iPhone to download a digital copy of the issue.

Mojo Contents page
The contents page will be in two main sections; features and regulars. Features are items that only appear in one particular issue and regulars are the items that appear in every issue.
This is the contents page from the British magazine Mojo.
The features for this magazine are really clear to see, they are under a bold heading that is clear to see; it is also in a different colour that fits with the colour and house scheme. A house colour is a colour scheme that runs through the whole magazine.
Features include:
- Interview with Florence Welch (Florence and The Machine)
- Rocket Juice and The Moon
- Unearthed
- Simple Minds
- Celebration of Johnny Cash's 80th Birthday.
These magazines seem to have a recurring theme of having interviews with celebs and the main interviewee is the artist on the front cover.
The magazines Kerrang and Q have similar regulars as well, such as competitions and reviews on an album (different each issue). These are features that I would certainly include in my contents page with a few interviews with the made up bands.
Regulars
Mojo have their regulars on a different page to their features. In this issue it includes:
Regulars
Mojo have their regulars on a different page to their features. In this issue it includes:
- 'All back to my place`
- 'Theories, Rants ect'
- 'Real Gone'
- Ask Fred'
- 'Hello Goodbye'
These regulars will be in every issue and looking in other issues they are; they are also on almost the same page.
Kerrang Contents Page
The contents page will be in two main sections; features and regulars. Features are items that only appear in one particular issue and regulars are the items that appear in every issue.

This magazine contents page is a bit harder than the Q magazine to find the features and the regulars.
The regulars and the features in Q magazines were on two separate pages and under the headings 'Features' and 'Regulars.
I feel that this magazine could be a lot clearer on splitting the sections up. In the contents column they could have had all the regulars first and then the features underneath, or maybe had two separate boxes for each one.

Conventions of a Contents Page and conventions analysis of Kerrang and Q
Conventions of a Contents Page by Danny Rothery on GoAnimate
This is the contents page for Q magazine. It is very different to the contents page of Kerrang. For example this contents page is on a double page spread. But again it is still split into sections for easier reading for the audience; regulars, features and 'The Q review'. I feel as though this contents page stands out more and is an easier read than the Kerrang contents page. It has bright colours, more images and bolder page numbers, all drawing the reader in.
