Conventions of a front cover by Danny Rothery on GoAnimate
Front cover:
These are the conventions of a front cover:
- A Masthead
- Main sell lines
- Normal Sell lines that relate to the genre (the stories should be all music related not gossip; Harry Styles has a relationship with a non celeb)
- A barcode
- The Issue number/date of the magazine
- The price, this could be inside a graphic or down near the barcode. Some magazines actually place the price inside a boarder around the barcode to have more space on the cover.
- A header/footer that involves some information on what is inside the magazine.
- The main image. This should be related to the genre, it is no point in having a heavy metal magazine and an image of Justin Bieber.
- Freebies. I believe it is important for a music magazine to include freebies such as a CD or posters. Freebies could increase reader loyalty and make more people want to buy the magazine.
